    The lifeboat tradition at Ameland

    About 12 - 15 times a year the traditional lifeboat goes out in the traditional way: with horses. These days just as a tourist showcase but not so long ago (actually till August 14, 1979) it was still the way the lifeboat went out to sea every time help out there was needed.
